Check Out The Latest Companies Using Standout Jobs

by Benjamin Yoskovitz

Every day more companies sign-up and launch Career Sites with us. It’s great to see people get into it so quickly, launch a great career site and start to generate results.

On that note, I’d like to introduce a handful of companies that you should check out:

  • National Angel Organization: The NAO is all about helping and bringing together angel investors. They’re hiring an Administrator - who will be in charge of keeping things running smoothly. It sounds like a very interesting job, with an opportunity to massively expand your network.
  • Silentale: Our first customer based in Paris! They’re in stealth mode, so you know as much as I do about what they’re up to, but it certainly looks like an interesting company. They haven’t listed any jobs yet, but they will be soon. I know they’re looking for Ruby on Rails developers, and JavaScript programmers.
  • Adlucent: An advertising/marketing company based in Austin, Texas. I love the way they’re promoting themselves, “We work as a diverse team. Cubicles are banned and individuality is nurtured. We’re fanatical about efficiency and making a big impact. If you think you have the potential to make a big splash, we want to hear from you.” They have quite a few internship positions available.
  • PSC Group: PSC is a professional services consulting firm with offices in Illinois, Kansas City and Minneapolis. Currently they’re looking for a WebSphere Architect but they also have plans to hire .NET and ASP developers, and Sharepoint Developers in the future.
  • NowPublic: A hot, Vancouver-based startup. Great group. They also do a great job of describing themselves, “NowPublic is a participatory news network which mobilizes an army of reporters to cover the events that define our world.” They have quite a few jobs available include 2 design/interface-related ones: User Interface Engineer / Front-End Developer & Intermedia Designer.

I hope you’ll check these companies and jobs out. There may be something there just for you!

The Art of Sourcing

by Benjamin Yoskovitz

Maureen Sharib does an excellent job of explaining sourcing and its importance in recruiting effectively. Maureen writes:

What Sourcing Is:

  • Process Organization
  • Calling into companies to find potential candidates that might fill your open positions
  • Calling people in your own influence sphere who might connect you to others who might fill your open positions
  • Learning, always learning, new ways
  • Speaking up and out in your community on the subject - you can do this in a variety of ways
  • Utilizing imaginative and innovative Internet search techniques that take you deeper, and more fully, in contact with potential candidates than anyone else

Maureen calls sourcing, “The pathway to recruiting success.”

What interests me most about sourcing is that I see a ton of opportunity to help sourcers with their efforts through software. You can’t replace hard work at the snap of your fingers, but every time I’ve ever done any amount of sourcing it’s been tedious, slow and repetitive. Trying to bring some new functionality to sourcing - be it with automated searches, matching, etc. - seems like a great opportunity.

We’ve started to provide some basics to make things easier for sourcers, by offering a bookmarklet tool called “Talent Scout” which allows you to bookmark any Web page you find into Reception. This won’t “save the day” but it’s one step towards helping manage the process of sourcing, and keeping track of a lot of candidate information. And I think there’s much more we can do…

Find Jobs More Easily

by Benjamin Yoskovitz

We want to make it as easy as possible for companies to promote their jobs and for prospective candidates to find those jobs. With that in mind we’ve added a few features to help candidates out, making it easier to locate interesting companies and jobs.

Candidate Dashboard

standout jobs dashboardThe Candidate Dashboard - which is what you see when you sign-up and login as a candidate now has some added functionality.

  1. Search for Jobs: You can now search for jobs from the top right-hand corner - using keywords, location or company name. This search feature is also available on the main site so you don’t have to be signed in to search.
  2. Jobs by Location: You can now see a full list of locations where our clients have posted jobs. It’s a pulldown menu on the right-hand side of your Candidate Dashboard. This is easy to use and immediately brings you to a list of appropriate jobs.

With this functionality in place, it should be much easier for candidates to discover the great companies we have on board and the jobs they have available.

Job Listings Pages

On the main site we’ve added a number of job listings pages that immediately show you job opportunities with our customers.
