Web Designer

Do you want to create extraordinary user experiences and nurture the growth of a brand? FreshBooks is looking for a creative web designer to join our friendly, hard-working team. If you’re interested in bringing design ideas to life, we’d love to hear from you.

You will:

Provide strategic input and support for product and marketing initiatives, be confident crafting exceptional user experiences, re-design existing features to make them magical, and be happy in a laid-back, professional, focused environment.

You’ll be an authority on our creative content (website, promotional materials) and our product design. As an integral part of our small team, you will work closely with our harmless, well-fed developers.

We need you to have:

• The ability to talk to our customers, understand their ideal experiences and bring them to life
• Strong visual design and GUI design skills
• 3-5 years of solid experience crafting XHTML/CSS websites
• Experience building sites with <div> rather than <table>
• Strong skills in the usual tools: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, FTP programs, brainpower, pencils, etc.

We hope you have:

• A working knowledge of Web 2.0
• Experience testing user experiences
• An intimate knowledge of the tech industry and web trends
• A way with the written word, and blogging ambitions

Web Developer

If you’re interesting in developing web applications in a laid-back and professional start-up atmosphere—minus the emotional rollercoaster, since we’ve been at this for over four years now—we’d be happy to hear from you.

You will:

Become a key member of our development team responsible for programming and testing your own code. You’ll share responsibility for the FreshBooks application, the API, our internal systems, and anything else we happen to be working on at the time.

We need you to have:

• Strong skills with at least one dynamic programming language
• Database programming experience (MySQL)
• Demonstrated proficiency communicating with users and fellow developers
• Attention to detail, and a real passion for programming

We hope you have:

• Server deployment experience (Apache, Mongrel, etc.)
• Familiarity with source control systems
• Excellent writing skills, and a hankering to blog

Support Specialist

Being here for our users is what defines us here at FreshBooks. We’re always happy to answer the phone, and we actively encourage our users to contact us with their questions or concerns, or even when they just want to chat!

We’re looking for an outgoing, friendly individual to learn our product inside-out, and to be the first line of support for our users.

You will:

Respond to support tickets and be active on our forums, follow through with our users on everything they bring to you, and keep the rest of the team well-informed on their needs and desires. Track down and root out the source of any issues that come up, too, using your finely-honed analytic techniques.

We need you to have:

• Fantastic written and verbal communication skills
• A convivial, bulletproof personality
• A knack for listening to our users and stepping into their shoes
• The capacity to learn and understand how the FreshBooks service works and is maintained

We hope you have:

• Front-line customer support experience
• Web development skills
